Training and Employment Beyond Prison, Following in the Footsteps of Giulia di Barolo.
Percorso 27 is a project promoted by Fondazione CRT, Associazione CON VOI APS, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italia, Fondazione Industriali Cuneo, CNEL, and Sviluppo Lavoro Italia, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Justice – Department of Penitentiary Administration.
The initiative was created with the aim of fostering the social and professional inclusion of people with a history of incarceration, contributing in a tangible way to reducing the risk of reoffending through structured pathways of training, guidance, and access to employment.
Inspired by the legacy of Giulia di Barolo, who carried out pioneering work in Turin in support of incarcerated people, Percorso 27 promotes an integrated model that values individual skills and potential while encouraging collaboration among institutions, businesses, and Third Sector organizations.
The project is based on the belief that employment is a key tool for autonomy, responsibility, and social participation, capable of generating benefits for both individuals and communities.
Applications were received from the following correctional institutions: C.C. Lorusso e Cutugno, IPM Ferrante Aporti, and the Quarto d’Asti Correctional Facility.
Percorso 27 aims to:
- promote the personal and professional autonomy of people with a history of incarceration;
- facilitate access to employment as a driver of social inclusion;
- strengthen connections between the education and training system and the labour market;
- contribute to reducing the risk of reoffending;
- test and develop a replicable model of collaboration among institutions, businesses, and Third Sector organizations.
The project includes a multi-phase pathway designed to enhance participants’ skills and individual potential:
- Assessment and Career Guidance: analysis of skills, previous experience, and personal aspirations to develop tailored pathways.
- Multidisciplinary Training: training activities aimed at developing both transversal and technical-professional skills, complemented by psychological support, language literacy, and financial education modules.
- Employment Support: engagement with companies and labour market stakeholders to facilitate professional placement through matching activities between participants’ skills and workforce needs.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: assessment of the project’s effectiveness and impact, with particular attention to social and professional inclusion pathways and the reduction of reoffending risk.
Percorso 27 contributes to strengthening a structured approach to inclusion policies, promoting employment as a tool for dignity, responsibility, and social participation.
The project forms part of Fondazione CRT’s broader commitment to supporting initiatives that foster social cohesion, equal opportunities, and territorial development through collaboration among institutions, businesses, and Third Sector organizations.
