Piccoli Comuni – Building sites for environment and territory

The Piccoli Comuni – Cantieri per l’Ambiente e il Territorio call for proposals promotes the protection of local areas through prevention and land management projects, with a focus on resilience and climate change adaptation.

The initiative supports projects aimed at improving the safety and protection of the territory in small municipalities across Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, encouraging the prevention of hydrogeological instability, the sustainable management of water resources, and collaboration among municipalities within the same homogeneous territorial area.

Over the years, Fondazione CRT’s calls dedicated to civil protection in small municipalities have enabled the implementation of 1,420 land protection projects, supported by a total investment of €14.6 million. In recent months alone, 100 new projects have been launched, including works to improve territorial safety, stabilise slopes, restore waterways, prevent wildfires, and protect water resources.

In 2026, Fondazione CRT’s Welfare and Territory Area is dedicating the autumn season to the small municipalities of Piedmont and the Aosta Valley—communities that safeguard the quality of local life while also experiencing the demographic, social, and environmental changes of recent years more intensely than many other territories.

A dual opportunity

Piccoli Comuni – Cantieri per l’Ambiente e il Territorio is one of the two calls for proposals through which Fondazione CRT’s Welfare and Territory Area is supporting small municipalities in Piedmont and the Aosta Valley during autumn 2026. Together with Legàmi in Comune (see the Legàmi in Comune call page), dedicated to community regeneration and civic participation, it contributes to a single strategic approach that combines environmental stewardship with the strengthening of social cohesion.
