Visit EUknow.it.

Italy and European Project Development

Italy makes use of only part of the resources available to it. Spending on the 2014–2020 Structural Funds remains around 80%, placing the country among the lowest-ranking EU Member States in terms of actual resource utilisation. This limitation affects the competitiveness of local territories and restricts opportunities for growth and development for many organisations.

EUknow.it was created to address this challenge by strengthening the project development capacity of local organisations at a crucial moment: as Europe prepares for the 2028–2034 programming period and Italy enters the post-NRRP phase, which will require stronger skills, partnerships and a greater ability to compete at the European level.

The Key Role of EUknow.it

With EUknow.it, Fondazione CRT and its partner organisations aim to provide a high-quality operational tool, accessible to everyone, helping to overcome one of the most evident weaknesses of the Italian system and enabling the entire territorial ecosystem to participate more effectively in European Union opportunities.

EUknow.it introduces a number of significant improvements. In addition to its new name, the platform features a clearer and more accessible design, enhanced navigation with keyword- and tag-based search functions, and an automatic text-to-speech feature that increases accessibility and inclusion. A new feedback channel also allows users to submit suggestions, comments and questions, helping to shape the platform collaboratively.

EUknow.it is a comprehensive resource for navigating the European funding landscape: an information ecosystem offering a practical guide to European project development, regularly updated factsheets on all major funding programmes, a calls-for-proposals portal, a glossary, audio and video materials, thematic insights, interviews, project stories, and a dedicated Q&A section designed around users’ real needs.

All content comes from official European institutions and managing authorities. It is free of charge, accessible without registration, and updated weekly. The platform is also available in English, French, and German, reflecting its growing international outlook.

The EUknow.it Network

Originally launched as two printed editions in 2006 and 2008, then transformed into an online platform in 2015 and updated again in 2021, the Guide to European Project Design has now evolved into EUknow.it through the collaboration of Fondazione CRT, ACRI, Fondazione CRC, Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Caritro, Fondazione Cariverona, Fondazione CR Firenze, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, Filiera Futura, Fondazione di Sardegna and ASVAPP.

This nearly twenty-year journey reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening Italy’s capacity to design and manage European projects. Over ten years of digital activity, the Guide has built a strong national community — more than 100,000 users, over 16,000 followers and thousands of pages of content — becoming a daily reference point for universities, public administrations, Third Sector organisations and European project development professionals.

Today, this valuable heritage converges into EUknow.it, with a renewed positioning and an even stronger focus on accessibility, usability and user participation.

EUknow.it is here: the new platform created by Fondazione CRT, ACRI and nine other partners to help users navigate the world of European projects.
