Opening the way

After the closing ceremony of the IX Paralympic Winter Games, a new operating horizon opened up for the CRT Foundation: making use of the experience acquired, transmitting the skills developed, setting up a path for approaching the X Paralympic Winter Games of Vancouver 2010 and those of Sochi 2014. It is within the complex of these activities that we find the foundation of the Paralympic Legacy Project.
Handing over the baton
Within the context of the paralympic Legacy Project, and in view of the forthcoming edition of the Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the CRT Foundation has implemented a series of events both to operate within its own territory and to tranfer experiences and know-how to other non-profit organisations. On the domestic front, it has promoted activities in support of the Italian Paralympic Committee and the Italian athletes, focusing on operations with a long-term effect on the territory and to create extra awareness among the general public, institutions and young people with regard to disability.
Meanwhile, important international patnerships have been established and enterprises have been launched, also in cooperation with the World Bank of Washington, via adhesion to the Global Partnership for Disability and Development, with the aim of transmitting its know-how both to potential funding organisations and philanthropic entities and to the organisations which represent the interests of the disabled, disseminating its experience as good practice and promoting intervention in the sector which, like the Torino 2006 Paralympics, guarantee a high return also in terms of image and communication.
Networking
The social value of the paralympic legacy paves the way for interesting social and economic development, with the creation of skills, the opening up of society and cultural elaborations. But for this to become a tangible reality, consolidated over time, it is necessary to strengthen a network linking and coordinating operations in support of the Paralympic movement, both as a whole and in those small but significant dedicated actions in the various countries. In order for non-profit organisations to convey added value to their action, it is necessary to expand the range of skills, joining a qualified network which can help to identify partners suited to the specific development of the various projects underway. The hope is that, by working in this direction, the Paralympic legacy acquired can become a shared heritage and bear its fruits for future generations.
Dopo la cerimonia di chiusura dei IX Giochi Paralimpici Invernali, per la Fondazione CRT si è aperto un nuovo orizzonte operativo: fare buon uso dell’esperienza acquisita, trasmettere le abilità sviluppate, mettere a punto un percorso verso i X Giochi Paralimpici Invernali di Vancouver 2010 e quelli di Sochi 2014. E’ all’interno di queste attività che si trovano le basi del Parlympic Legacy Project.
Passare il testimone
Nel contesto del Paralympic Legacy Project, e in vista della prossima edizione dei Giochi Paralimpici Invernali a Vancouver, la Fondazione CRT ha implementato una serie di eventi per operare all’interno del proprio territorio e, allo stesso tempo, per trasferire esperienze e know-how ad altre organizzazioni no-profit. Sul fronte domestico, ha promosso attività in supporto del Comitato Paralimpico Italiano e gli atleti italiani, concentrandosi su operazioni con effetti a lungo termine sul territorio e in modo da creare una maggiore consapevolezza tra il pubblico, le istituzioni e i giovani sul mondo della disabilità.
Nel frattempo, sono stati stabiliti partenariati internazionali importanti e sono state lanciate iniziative, anche in collaborazione con la World Bank di Washington, attraverso l’adesione al Global Partnership for Disability and Development, con lo scopo di trasmettere il proprio know-how sia alle potenziali organizzazioni finanziatrici sia alle entità filantropiche e a quelle organizzazioni che rappresentano gli interessi delle persone disabili, divulgando la propria esperienza come una buona pratica e promuovendo interventi in un settore che, come durante le Paralimpiadi di Torino 2006, garantisce un importante ritorno anche in termini di immagine e comunicazione.
Fare network
Il valore sociale dell’eredità paralimpica apre la strada a un interessante sviluppo sociale ed economico, con la creazione di nuove abilità, e l’apertura della società eadapprofondimenti culturali. Ma per diventare una realtà tangibile, consolidata nel tempo, è necessario rafforzare la creazione di una rete e il coordinamento di operazioni in supporto del movimento paralimpico, sia nella sua totalità che in quelle singole ma significative azioni dedicate nei diversi paesi. Per permettere alle organizzazioni no-profit di convertire questo valore aggiunto in azioni, è necessario ampliare la gamma di competenze, aderendo a una rete che può aiutare a identificare partner adatti allo specifico sviluppo dei vari progetti in corso. La speranza è che, lavorando in questa direzione, l’eredità paralimpica acquisita possa diventare un patrimonio comune e dare così i propri frutti per le generazioni future.
