On Friday, June 6, 2008, Fondazione CRT was pleased to host the full-day conference 'Venture philanthropy:  A Model For Italy?  in collaboration with the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA).  This event was the first EVPA country meeting in Italy. 150 practitioners, researchers, scholars, and members of the philanthropic community attended the conference.

The conference was international in design, as it offered 2 portions.  The morning segment, which featured presentations from the representatives of EVPA, was conducted in English and featured three presentations along with a panel discussion.  Panellists and presenters included Rob John, (Visiting Fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship:  Said Business School, University of Oxford and Advisor to EVPA), Tim Joss (Director, Rayne Foundation), and  Luciano Balbo (President, Oltre Venure Capitale Sociale).

The afternoon segment, which was conducted in Italian, focused on the philanthropic environment of Italy and its suitability for incorporating venture philanthropy approaches.  Guest panellists and presenters included Stefano Marchettini (General Director, ACRI), Paola Pierri (Presidente, Unidea, UniCredit Foundation),  and Anna Venturino (General Director, Fondazione Oliver Twist).
