From the 20th-22nd May, Milan hosted the 26th Annual General Assembly of the European Foundation Centre (EFC).

The annual conference is a platform for discussion and meetings among foundations and civil society and European and International organisations, including the European Commission and the United Nations. It is one of the most important occasions on an international level to focus on strategies and action for the future of philanthropy.

Every year the conference takes place in a different location, with the participation of over 600 delegates from all over the world. The choice to hold the 2015 conference in Milan allows valuable synergies to be made between the conference and numerous events, organisations and visitors who will arrive for the EXPO. In harmony with the theme of the EXPO “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, the 2015 General Assembly "Philanthropy: Visions and Energy for Change" will tackle the challenges of local community development and collaboration between civil society and companies in order to achieve greater social equality.

As part of the Annual conference, Fondazione CRT and the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA), in collaboration with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held a session “Boosting Change: How to Match Social and Venture Capital”

Fondazione CRT also participated in the session: Can clarity on a Theory of the Foundation make our efforts more relevant to today's challenges?”

Amongst the Site Visits proposed during the conference, there was an experience in Turin: Fondazione CRT, together with Compagnia di San Paolo, organised an afternoon visit to Palazzo Madama and the Museo Egizio, examples of the two Turin foundations (of banking origins) supporting the territory as well as interesting examples of cultural heritage management.
